APLR2 FFP IR MIL 4-14x44 reticle

Features

First Focal Plane Reticle First focal plane design allows you to fully utilize specially designed reticles that shrink or grow along with your target as you zoom in or out. These reticles offer quick target engagement at low power while offering precise holdover positions with finer details.
Illuminated Reticle The illuminated reticle provides greater visibility during dusk and dawn and other low ambient light environment.
Etched Glass Reticle Reticle etched on the glass that provides excellent backing support for complex reticle design and offers great durability and much higher shock resistance to recoil
Fully Multicoated Fully Multicoated optics effectively reduces reflected light and increases the transmission of light giving you a brighter image than normal single coated lenses
Aircraft Grade Aluminum Aircraft Grade Aluminum provide extra strength and durability to handle the toughest terrain and offers lifetime of use.
Heat Treated One Piece Tube Construction Heat treated one piece tube gives the scope extra strength over multi-piece tubes. A one piece tube also is better at keeping moisture out thus keeping your scope fog proof for the life of the product
Waterproof Waterproof to protect the scope in the harshest weather conditions or if accidently submerged underwater
Fog proof Fog proof to allow you to immediately engage your target when you take your rifle to cold ambient temperature from warm inside
Shockproof Robust mechanical system with special designs on both control and erector system that give you the ultimate recoil resistance to withstand 1000G recoil for 1000 times.
Nitrogen Purged Nitrogen purging dramatically reduces the moisture inside the tube and helps maintaining fogproof and waterproof.

25Mils Elevation and 27 Mils Windage, Wow!

    Tracking spot on, Wow!

    Price Point, Wow! Wow!

So I will admit I purchased this scope very, very pessimistic. I haven’t had a piece of glass worth while at this price point in SFP let alone FFP. I thought that after all the buzz I would get this in my hand and still have a feeling of remorse or wish I did not taken the chance. I thought the tracking would be off or not repeatable or that it would be mushy and messy. I also figured it could go on a junk 22lr or something similar after I was disappointed.

As I saw it only had 20mils Elevation listed I thought I would be limited by this but figured what can you expect at the price point. Again after in my hand review it had 25 Mils Elevation significantly more than listed…

After I received my package I immediately noticed that I was in for a surprise. It is easy to be surprised when you are not expecting much, but with each and every feature I was getting increasingly more excited with this purchase.

Took to the range and put this through its paces. Checked Tracking or Stated/Listed Mils and Reticle and found to be accurate at 100m exactly centered and lined up at 10mils, 20mils, and 25mils. Was very excited by this. Box test perfect. Reticle as designed and as listed.

I cannot tell you what a relief it is to see that a scope at this price point can track and can be easy to get behind.

The 4-14x magnification range with this reticle is awesome. There was no tunneling even at low magnification I was able to see within 1 ft of listed/stated FOV at 100m and was very surprised with edge to edge clarity across this magnification range. I used this on a Magnum cartridge without a brake and it held up to much abuse 300gr bullets with 90gr+ powder.

I can say that once I get a chance to have the other Athlon lines of Argos and Midas in FFP scopes I will be posting reviews of those as well. I expect great things I am only pessimistic at how can they improve these features as the clicks were positive and it tracked perfectly and the glass was not lacking in any respects. the bottom of 4x and the top of 14x was awesome, I know this gets harder for scope manufacturers for say above 14-15x and they have models of 24x, 27x and 34x at the top range that will be the supreme challenge. I believe that Athlon is up to that challenge.

I had seen great reviews of the Cronus but that is not my price point. I want great value for $500 not over $1k, I have heard however that the Cronus at $1,700 competes with scopes $3-4k and that it will even give Tangent Theta a run for its money from a few notable sources.

I have one and am getting another. There is no hype on this scope. What the ads say is what you get. I can not find a scope that is close to this one for the money any where. Check them out and you will see what I am talking about. Mark

Fantastic optic for the price. First focal, lit reticle, tracks properly. Not quite as nice as the Viper PST, but still very clear glass. My first one went on a 16″ free-floated AR-15. After using it I can safely say I’ll be buying more.

Hell of a lot of optic for the money. Tracks perfectly, glass is astonishingly clear. It is mounted on a Rem 700 sps .223 with a Timmey and will put bullet after bullet into the same hole if I do my part.

Just buy this scope. Seriously. Tracks perfectly. Illuminated reticle is amazing. Mil reticle is spot on. Zero’d with a muzzle brake, shot with suppressor and adjusted, and saved the adjustments for a suppressed zero. Went back and forth with suppressor/brake, adjusting turrets each time. Amazed it only costs $300. I’d pay double for it.

Great scope for the price. Mounted on AR10 platform chambered in 308. Clear glass, tracking is dead on every time. I’ll give a update after a few hundred more rounds.

I purchased this scope for a varmint rig. I was pleasantly surprised when my scope arrived and found the quality to be on par with my other scopes that cost much more. Clarity and transmission are good and it tracks as true as I can shoot. The reticle is amazing for hold overs in hunting scenarios. The lifetime warranty was a plus and I must say when I had a problem with my scope, Athlon representatives were right on top of it. They answered the phone in one or two rings and my problem was their priority from there. They resolved my issue within 15 minutes and didn’t ask a question or blink and eye to make me a believer that they are going to stand by this product.
