The Ares 15-45 family of spotting scopes were designed with advanced optical quality and ease of use in mind. Designed with bright, razor-sharp imagery and a rugged, weatherproof design, the Ares is ready for any condition. The interchangeable eyepiece allows you to swap the standard variable power eyepiece with a fixed 22 power eyepiece (sold separately) with a MIL ranging reticle in it for your long range shooting/tactical application. They have Extra-Low Dispersion glass lenses for color resolution and contrast, our AFMC (advance fully multi-coatings), and feature BaK4 prisms with the new ESP Dielectric Coating. They bring clarity and brightness within the reach of most enthusiasts. The tough full metal chassis is fog proof and waterproof and filled with Argon gas to prevent internal fogging and better thermal stability. The lenses are then treated externally with our XPL coating to withstand dirt, oil, and grime of constant use. Choose from three different models – each distinctly different in size so you have a scope tailor-made for your specific activity.

Been using this Spotter for over a year now for hunting, shooting and digiscope. Was really concerned about spending $1K on a spotter (my price point) but was blown away at the performance of this scope and would do it again in a heartbeat. The &700.00 price point competes with &1K scopes for sure. I spend over 70 days a year in the field and was looking for a high quality scope for a reasonable price (I think us hunters are always looking for the best bang for the buck). The glass is exceptional in this scope. I have owned two other scopes in the $300.00 range, one of which is a 60x scope and the Athlon 45x is a much more crisp, clear and focused scope than any of the other two I own. I was blown away at how this 45X power scope could outperform a 60x scope (you truly get what you pay for). I am a believer in HD glass! The size is perfect for the backpack hunter. It's compact and takes up less room in a pack than a 60x scope for sure. This is a very high quality scope and I would recommend it to anyone looking for a compact, high quality scope. I have not had the opportunity to test the warranty and hope I never have to but Athlon's warranty is complete peace of mind. Do your homework if you're are in the market for a compact scope in the $1k price range. This scope is the ticket!

In March, 2020 I bought the Ares 15-45 x 65 ED , as part of my guiding equipment. I decided to go with this model because of compact size and close focus(very useful in the tropical forest since animals can be very close to you). Since COVID, I was not able to try it with costumers. I did used for bird watching in Costa Rica and I think is an excellent option for someone in a budget. Very sharp image, even at 45x. I love the eye piece and objective cover. I also got a Phone Skope and they work great together. Something to consider is that the rubber armor that protects the scope started to break(open) and I had to send it back to warranty. I understand that this year things are very different but I had to wait 2 month to get a new unid. I did not like that they called me to talk about the scope(I personally rather email, more formal). I got this new version last week (Ares G2 UHD 15-45×65 – 45 Degree) and I really like. I hope to use it more to have a more reliable feedback on this new model.

I was in the market for a spotting scope upgrade with my shooting and hunting applications. Word on the internet was that this spotter was on par with Vortex's Razor 22-48 x 65 spotter. I did an online specs comparison of the two and decided to pull the trigger on this one based off of the following:
1. My outstanding experience with the Ares G2 rifle scope I have.
2. It is less than half the price of the comparable Vortex spotter.
3. It is about 3" shorter than the Vortex Razor 22-48 x 65.
4. It is almost 7oz lighter than the Vortex.
5. The Vortex Razor 22-48 x 65 does not have a reticle eye piece available for it. This is an important accessory for my applications.
I was amazed at this spotter when it arrived. very clear optics even at 45x you can get a very crisp image. It just so happens, I have a buddy that spent a lot of time behind a Vortex Razor 22-48 x 65 this year on an Elk hunt in Wyoming. He really enjoyed the performance of that spotter and was going to buy one. I wanted him to compare his experience with the Vortex to this spotter to this spotter. He was absolutely blown away by the Athlon. He stated that the Athlon in his opinion was just as good as the comparable vortex in optical performance. He stated that while it was pretty much neck to neck in performance concerning optical quality, The Athlon beat the Vortex with it being lighter and smaller in size as well as being half the price of the Vortex. Most of us hunters that pack in are looking for the lightest, best performing gear we can find at the best prices we can get. That is hard to do a lot of the time. When we put the Ares G2 22x reticle eye piece on it and started glassing, my buddy and I both knew right away that we had the perfect set up for our applications. "Ridiculously Good Optics"- Athlon's slogan is a very true statement. This incredible spotting scope is a true sleeper in the optics market.

This is a great option for the hunter like myself who doesnt have the Lu set of spending 2k on a spotter. I travel out west once a year for a mule deer hunt and this is perfect for what I need. It’s lightweight and compact I can leave it on my tripod and strap to the front of my pack and go everywhere with it. It’s just enough extra glass to indentify bucks that are too far for Binos
