Just received my Argos BTR 6-24×50. I am very impressed with this optic so far. I spend alot of time behind a rifle and am familiar with alot of companies optics and this scope is a winner. The day very well arrived when we are able to use the words quality and affordable in the same sentence to describe shooting equipment. So far the scope has tracked perfectly and glass is exceptional for a optic in this price margin. Very good price for a scope with these features and even FFP! I am looking forward to seeing what Athlon has for us shooters in the near future and years to come.

Well I can't say enough about my 6.5/24/50 scope besides being one of the clearest scope I own it has to be one of the best looking scopes I have that's why I mounted it on my Winchester model 70 it brings out the beauty .

Got to shoot the Argos BTR today on a Remington 700 with a 20 in. Barrel. Conditions were pretty windy, but the setup was good. Scope performed flawlessly.

    Dear Jason,
I just received my new Athlon Argos BTR 6-24x50 IR MOA reticle scope from Midway USA today. I am just completely blown away with the quality of this scope. I love everything about it, and I feel like shouting out to the whole world what a prize I have found.
I am an air gunner, and I bought this for my FX Wildcat .25 cal. air rifle. I got into this sport about 3 1/2 years ago and have tried many scopes. I am really ashamed to tell you how many scopes I have purchased and returned (12?) for a refund due to their poor quality or other drawbacks.
Just recently I purchased a Leupold VX3i 6.5-20x40 Target EFR...and I had the Custom Shop install their TS29X1 reticle. It was a one of a kind - I used it for one trip to the range and sold it the next day to a friend at a loss just to get rid of it. I tell you this to give you an idea of my desperate search for the "perfect" scope for my air rifle.
I was fully expecting to send this scope back to Midway USA also...but I wouldn't part with this gem for all the tea in China. I feel like I have found the "Holy Grail" of air rifle scopes. (It would work great on a powder burners also). So I hope to tell all of my brothers and sisters in this sport about it. This is perfect for us and you should aggressively market these three first focal plane scopes to the airgun community.
You should contact Airguns of Arizona and Pyramyd Air just to name a couple...I have purchased several of the Hawke Scopes, Leapers, Oculus, Optimax, Nikon, Leupold, Zeiss, etc. and none of them hold a candle to this one. We airgunners need scopes with holdovers on the reticle - like mildot, half mil dot, or moa reticles - because of the trajectory of our pellets. But we need holdovers that are valid throughout the full range of magnification!
One of the big problems has been that the holdovers are not valid on scopes with the reticle in the second focal plane if one changes the magnification! I just recently found out about this when I read the description of your Argos BTR 6-24x50 at MidwayUSA...it explains why I sent so many scopes back for a refund because I would memorize the holdovers at 10x and shoot at that power setting mostly. But when on occasion I would turn the power up higher or lower my rifle would not hit the target where it was supposed to - and I believed that it was no longer "holding zero". I feel like such an idiot but I simply didn't know!
Besides this inherent problem with second focal plane scopes, only one of the scopes I have purchased in the past 3 1/2 years was as clear all the way out to the edges of the lenses as this one is. It was a Zeiss but it would only focus down to 50 yards, so back it went.
Allow me to give you a list of all the features one could hope for in a scope for an air rifle. First focal plane, Illuminated holdover reticle - either mil or moa, 30mm tube - for best field of view and most elevation adjustment, side focus wheel - a 2" & 4" accessory would be nice, a locking ring for the eyepiece, focus from 10 yards to infinity, and absolutely crystal clear glass all the way out to the edges...even at full magnification in bright sunlight and at night with very little ambient light.
This scope has everything on the list except a larger side wheel accessory and a locking ring for the eye piece. I can purchase the former on Ebay, and live without the latter. Jason you have hit a major home run with this scope. If you are smart - and I believe you are - you will begin the process of marketing all of the Athlon first focal plane models to the airgun community. You will steal the market away from Hawke, Leapers, Optimax, and the other last place finishers in this race. None of them have a "first focal plane" scope, and if they did they sure wouldn't be selling it at this great price. Last but not least, this illuminated reticle is absolutely amazing outside in the dark...the reticle appears to just "float" in midair...it looks like a hologram or something. It is way cool!
    Best regards, Chuckster
P.S. - Come out with a 4-16x50mm first focal plane IR reticle model soon! Airgunner will eat them up!!

I purchased this scope based on features and ratings alone, I knew I was purchasing this scope without being familiar to the Athlon name. For the price in comparison to other National known names, I went out a limb and bought. First off, the quality is what you'd expect to find in a scope 3 times its price, the clarity at all ranges is perfect. The turrets function is solid and the tracking is spot on. I ran it from 50 to 450 yards using turrets (no holdover), zero never changed. It's mounted onto a bolt 308. it wouldn't be fair to compare it to a BIG NAME manufacturer, because this product stands on its own. Of all the scope I've purchased, this Brand is the best so far. Them boys out of Middleton Wi and Pearland Tx have a true competitor on their hands. I thank you Athlon for a fine product and at an affordable price.

Just got The Athlon Argos Btr in. I am very impressed with the scope quality, packaging was great. Reticle instructions were very informative and you just can not beat the warranty. I would recommend this scope to anyone.

  7. Chris

Love the riflescope so far! Mounted it on my 20" barrel AR. The riflescope looks awesome and lets me drive tacks at 100 yards. Its a very clear scope and comparable to a vortex viper.

  8. Steve

I purchased my Argos BTR riflescope a couple months ago and put it on a brand new out of the box .308. I was amazed with it, I had my zero within 5 rounds and it has not moved since then. It is the clearest glass I have ever used. I am sold completely and I will absolutely be recommending this to anyone I know looking for a scope.

Great scope, Athlon Argos BTR 6-24×50 ir mil on my Ruger Precision 308. Sighted in easy without boar sight in at 100yds. 600 yds no problem. Best scope for the money. I will probably buy another scope from Athlon for my hunting rifle.

  10. Daniel

Very impressed with this scope. Holds zero very well and the clarity is comparable with $1200 popular brand scopes. The lifetime warranty was the deciding factor for me. I will buy Athlon riflescopes for future firearms.

  11. Fred

I use my Argos BTR 6-24x50 with various pellet rifles hunting rats, squirrels, and other pests that go after my avocado trees. Love the FFP reticle. Rodents from 15 to 90 yards are in very serious trouble. 88/91 rats, 15/15 squirrels this year. Very nice scope, very nice price.

I got Argos scope number two ( 6-24x50 BTR ) a while ago, this one in MOA! Same thing all over again:
Super clear, strong and durable, holds zero, works great, has the wow effect!
Mounted on a Savage 243 LRP, 4 rounds to zero, holds dead on and I shoot 1/4 inch groups all day long...
    NOW HERE IS THE PROBLEM!!:
What should I get with my number three Argos that I am going to order....MOA or MIL.....szzzzz that's gonna be hard!!

  13. Scott K.

Wow! I received this scope and am blow away. Fit and finish and quality feel reminds me of a Nightforce.
Put this atop my RPR in 6.5 Creedmoor and once zeroed I'm driving tacks.
Can't wait to stretch this thing out past 300 yds. (Limit of our Range).

  14. Cody Green

I have been using the Argos BTR 6x24x50 in MOA for a few weeks now and I have not a single bad thing to say about it! Goes great with my .308. I am not doing much hunting just trying to figure out the scope and shooting long range. I have taken this scope out to 1,000 yards easily and comes back to a true zero at 200 yards everytime. A great scope for the $$. I have had the Vortex Viper and the Argos side by side and the clarity of the glass IMO is about the same but I have found that the tracking of the Argos is slightly better than the Viper.

Thanks to Jeff at Athlon Nation for all the info and helpful tips!
I would recommend this company for more than just riflescopes as their binoculars and spotting scopes are great quaility as well!

Love this scope so far purchased from midwayUSA. I looked at several of the popular brands only to come back to the Athlon based on the features and price point. I narrowed it down to the Helos or the Argos BTR and midway had the Helos on backorder so the Argos the only choice. WOW out of the box with a quick bore sight and six shots I was shooting 1 MOA at 100 yds first time firing my RPR, First time using a bolt action rifle, and First visit to an outdoor range since leaving the military. I love this scope and look forward to shooting further with similar results.

Got the Argos BTR 6-25x50 for Christmas last year. Was skeptical through the whole process of making the decision of Athlon or Vortex. Once I got it I was very pleased. I immediately stepped outside and looked down the road with it and was very impressed. I could nearly read the licence plate on a vehicle over 700 yards away. Once I got it mounted on my rifle I went to the range and zeroed the scope. The turrets were very nice to use but I did notice that they are not very tactile or audible. Overall I am impressed with the Argos BTR and Athlon. I would encourage anyone to give them a try and to have an open mind. I would rate the Argos BTR in the same bracket as the Vortex PST, both are of entry level quality but are still a quality product. I would put the Argos ahead of the PST due to the price. The Argos is approximately $600 less then the PST and I would say just as good.

took rifle out last weekend and what a difference this scope makes. only went out to 300 yards but the clarity was unreal. this is my first long range scope so take my review for what its worth. for the cost of this scope i am extremely pleased with how i was able to see the writing on the targets at 300 yards. i would highly recommend this to my friends that are shooting long range.

  18. epaminodas

This is an almost direct copy ofvthe Vortex Viper PST scope at half the price. Just sited in at 100 yds and did sub 2" grouos with ease with stock ammo in my Remington 700. Absolutely great value for the money

  19. D. Boyce

Crystal clear optics even at the highest power. Turret clicks track with excellent precision, and have a nice audible click, After mounting it on the rifle, I was able to hit the exact bullseye on the second shot after moving the correct number of clicks. Parallax adjustment is easy to use even while in shooting position. Reticle is simple and makes sense. Comes with scope caps too. I will also buy the optional sun shade for $30.
The only small compromise is 3.3" eye relief, but it is good for lower recoil rifles like my 6.5 Creedmoor. Best scope in this price range!

  20. Alex Westerfield

Think Vortex Viper quality with a lower price tag (as well as the Lifetime warranty). This sucker has all the tidbits and trimmings at an extremely affordable rate. If you're going for a budget long distance shooting system, this is your scope.
