I purchased the Talos BTR 1-4x24 due to the affordable price and the glass quality appears to be excellent. The price is great for someone looking for a good 3-gun scope on a budget or as a good home defense rifle utilizing the one power option. The scope was mounted on a Rock River AR.
I took the Talos BTR 1-4x24 to the range to zero the rifle at 50 yards. I bore sighted the scope and then it was time to get it sighted in. The sight in took only 9 shots, shooting 3 shot groups using the 4 power option. Once sighted in I utilized the one power an did CQB work on multiple targets. I was able to hit where aimed and followup shots were quick and easy. I then moved back to the 100 yard line and the scope on either 1 power or 4 power the groups stayed consistent at under 1/2 moa. I completed a box drill at the 100 yard and the turret movements were spot on.
After the 100 yard I continued out to 200,300 and 400 yards using the scope on 4 power and six inch plates. By using the mil reticle and the downloadable Reticle Manuel and User Instruction Manuel from Athlon the AR-15 was able to hit the six inch plates without issue.
Based on my experience with this scope I would purchase again and would recommend to others. By purchasing this scope it will leave the person with a little extra to get ammunition to shoot after the scope is mounted. It is also backed with a lifetime guarantee, so if the scope breaks you are able to send it back to Athlon.

There is NO way you can beat this scope for less than double what it costs! Unfortunately it puts me in the market to replace my Redfield with another Athlon product. Thank you Athlon for a product that is very well thought out and executed!

Great scope, clear glass, and a nice reticle. Totally worth it, and with the illuminated reticle, quite the deal. IF you like Vortex, you will love Athlon Scopes.

I love the Talos BTR very clear glass, the illuminated reticle is great, the turrets are very sharp, the only thing that I wish it came with the quick tab for magnification, I have a Vortex Strike Eagle also and I love it but like using my Talos better and cost half as much, I will be getting another for my next build for sure, I need 2 more scopes for other rifles and I will definitely be buying Athlon.

This is an awesome sub-$200 scope! It's built pretty well, and the glass is surprisingly clear for being so inexpensive. I used to have a Viper PST 1-4 and the glass is almost as clear on this Athlon, however there is definitely more distortion around the outer edge of the lens and it isn't a true 1x power. I do like the reticle more on this compared to the Viper however. The only drawback that I really see besides the glass not being flawless is the weight, it's got some heft. I ordered this with that cheap TWOD QD mount and together they weighed about 2 pounds. I returned the mount because it's nothing special. Always spend more money on your optic mounts! This is a great, cheap alternative to a Vortex Viper PST or Leupold VX-R Patrol (or whatever the name is). I just can't decide whether to leave it on my SBR or slap it on a .22 for plinking.

I bought 1 of these at Christmas last year to mount on my .300Blk 10.5" AR pistol I use for close range whitetail & hog hunting in the dense woods of GA, usually from tree stands. The glass is much clearer than expected at this price. Holds zero well. Nice to turn on a little illumination early morning & when sun going down. Got several deer with it last year. Would I use it on my duty patrol rifle? No. (Got a Steiner 1-4 for that) But for a plinker, truck gun, or hunting less than 200yds, it's great if you're on a budget.
Update- 2nd year hunting with it. Sold the pistol & built a 16” carbine. Still great scope for money. Sat in rain 1 day. No problems. From looking at other guys scopes, I think the glass is clearer than the low end Vortex Crossfire scopes & the Strike Eagles.

Works great on my PTR91F . Clear glass tracks prefect and the mils are spot on for holdovers . At 1x its great for home defense at 4x with holdovers you can still shoot long range. Thanks for a great scope at a great price.

My 3 gun rifle is setup with an Athlon Argos 1-4x24 that I originally bought because that was all I could afford after my build hit the budget pretty hard. It was supposed to be temporary until I could get something better. After using it in a couple of matches I was impressed with the Argos and particularly like the reticle as I prefer crosshairs. I now have no intention of replacing the Argos.
I have an AR22 I use for for training and wanted it set up like my match gun. I considered putting an Argos on this gun but after looking at different optics I decided on the Talos. Again it was one of the only 1-4 I could find with a true crosshairs reticle. Another plus it was nearly half the price of the Argos and it does everything I need it to do. The clarity is great and I don't think you could find a better optic in this price range, especially with a comparable warranty.
A year ago I had never heard of Athlon, this Talos is my 6th Athlon optic. I see more in my future.
