Description

When you hear first focal plane rifle scope, the best rifle scopes on the market come to mind. With crisp locking turrets, advanced fully multi-coated optics, and built from a one piece tube made of aircraft-grade 6061-T6 aluminum you would expect it to come with a high price tag.  That is not the case. This is exactly why we introduced the Helos BTR family.  Feature rich but won’t break the bank.

This Helos BTR 6-24×50 Model has APMR first focal plane illuminated MIL reticle in it. Please click the link or download the reticle instruction manual in Specification for more details…

Feature

First Focal Plane Reticle First focal plane design allows you to fully utilize specially designed reticles that shrink or grow along with your target as you zoom in or out.  These reticles offer quick target engagement at low power while offering precise holdover positions with finer details.
Locking Turrets Locking feature on both elevation and windage turrets allows you to simply pull up the turrets to dial and push down the turrets to lock them in place. This feature gives you a peaceful mind whether you are moving from one station to next during your competition or putting them away for your next hunting trip.
Illuminated Reticle The illuminated reticle provides greater visibility during dusk and dawn and other low ambient light environment.
Etched Glass Reticle Reticle etched on the glass that provides excellent backing support for complex reticle design and offers great durability and much higher shock resistance to recoil
Fully Multicoated Fully Multicoated optics effectively reduces reflected light and increases the transmission of light giving you a brighter image than normal single coated lenses
6061 T6 Aluminum The 6061T6 aircraft grade aluminum tube that has exceptional strength and superior mechanical integrity will protect these world class optics no matter what punishment you throw at it.
Heat Treated One Piece Tube Construction Heat treated one piece tube gives the scope extra strength over multi-piece tubes.  A one piece tube also is better at keeping moisture out thus keeping your scope fog proof for the life of the product
Waterproof Waterproof to protect the scope in the harshest weather conditions or if accidentally submerged underwater
Fog proof Fog proof to allow you to immediately engage your target when you take your rifle to cold ambient temperature  from warm inside
Shockproof Robust mechanical system with special designs on both control and erector system that give you the ultimate recoil resistance to withstand 1000G recoil for 1000 times.
Argon Purged Argon Purging uses the inertia gas with bigger size molecules to purge any moisture out of  the tube giving you better waterproofing and thermal stability .

This is a really well built scope for what you pay. The turrets have extremely positive feed back when moved. I love the locking turrets, I was skeptical at first but now I love em. The scope tracks perfectly. I have hundreds of rounds of 6.5 Creedmoor through this optic at various ranges from 100, 500, and 1200 yards. The side focus is nice and smooth. It stays where you set it. For the price of this scope and what you get it can’t be beat. I think Athlon really nailed it with this one. With a side by side comparison with other higher end scopes being from the $1200+ range the Helos had a clearer and more crisp field of view (with & w/out the sun shade). That grouped with the tracking, locking turrets, side focus, and $$$ only made my shooting buddies jealous. I only wish that the sun shade came with the optic. I would definitely recommend this product. I will be buying from Athlon in the future. Thanks for a great product.

I have this mounted this rifle scope on my Desert Tech SRS A1 6.5 Creedmoor. I have not shot it yet. I will give an update when I can. The glass is incredibly clear! The reticle is extremely easy to understand and use. The lift up and lock down knobs for the turrets are AWESOME! Not only does it make sure that the turrets don’t change while moving around like hunting but it also get the exact number of rotation/mil with no smudginess in the turrets because it slides down into place. Brilliant!

UPDATE: I have had this scope for quite some time now and have hundreds of rounds down range with it. I just recently went to a Precision Rifle class with about 30 students. Myself and 1 other student both had Athlon optics, I have the Helos and he had the Argos. EVERYONE, including the guys with higher priced glass, were extremely impressed and couldn’t believe how good good we were doing with the Athlons because they weren’t $2,000+. The turrets being able to slide up/down and in/out to make sure the turns are set perfect is a HUGE help. Especially when actually setting your zero on the turrets, it’s nice to be able to lock down the turret and not have any “ghost clicks” when making adjustments.

This is the first quality scope I have purchased, and has proved to be a worthwhile investment. So many nice features, especially the side focus. I’m not knowledgeable about all the technical aspects, but it was easy to mount, easy to operate and just plain fun to get behind. Definitely recommend and I was pleased to to find it affordable.

So far I am impressed! Quality materials and workmanship. Perhaps a little on the heavy side, but that speaks to durability. I mounted this rifle scope and zeroed it on a 6.5 Creedmoor Savage bolt action and have over a 100 rounds down the tube with this scope. Good optics, comparable to scopes much more expensive. First Focal Plane! Mil-Mil, good positive and locking turrets, lifetime warranty. This scope is a great value. I think there will be more of these scopes in my future. I would definitely recommend rifle shooters consider this scope.

    Mounted on a 6.5 Grendel.

I agree with the others as far as clarity and brightness compared to the Vortex Viper PST 5-24 FFP, and Burris XTR II Athlon is noticeably better.

One thing lacking – zero stop. This is a must have for any rifle scope in this class, especially if you only have 5 mil/MOA per rotation.

I bought this scope in “blind mode”. It was some risk for me.
But when I recive and check it I was some pleasured.
    Nice and clear vision.
    Really god mechanics.
Reticle at 24x is some fat compare to Ares and Vortex. But at 10- 16x very good.
I compared 3 scopes with Vortex Viper 6-24×50- Argos BTR 6-24, Helos BTR6-24 and Ares BTR 4.5-27
In 3 km was a red-illuminated board. So only Helos gave me possibility to read it.
Me and my friends concluded that this scope is even better as Ares in some points.
F.e. with Helos you don’t need so tight eye-positioning as with Ares.
One minus- aberration at 20- 24x on bright objects have all Athlon I saw.
But when you centering head- aberration come to minimum.
This scope and Ares are much contrast at evening on non-illuminated objects as Vortex.
I compared 3 scopes with Vortex- Argos BTR, Helos BTR and Ares BTR.
So I recommend this scope for precise shooting and hunting also if you don’t use more than 20x

First of all I wanted to thank Drake for the outstanding customer service! The dude was very knowledgeable about all the optic and helped me return my scope when it has a slight problem with an internal lens. I was using the 8-34x but realized after a few days of shooting that it was way more power than I needed. I asked if there was anyway they could trade out the scope to a 6-24 since it had a few issues with an internal lens on the 8-34. as soon as he received the scope he called me up and told me it was no issue at all and even gave me a credit towards my next scope. I’m very ok with that since there will for sure be a next scope.

The scope is a tool and since I shoot PRS style competitions with it it gets abuse and dropped and hit. but when it comes time to shoot and adjust for the next target the turret has great hard ticks so counting is easy and going from 450 out to 1100 then back to 450 it was dead on shot for shot. I have other nice scopes but for the price you really do get a lot more than any other brand. Its rare but you get more than you pay for and you can’t beat the warranty or customer service! if you’re looking for a scope for anything Athlon is the only way to go on and off the range.
