I’ve used a lot of rifle scopes over the years, but the Athlon Optics Ares ETR Gen2 UHD 15-60x56 ABLR3 SFP IR MOA is in a class of its own. From the moment I mounted it, this scope impressed me with its optical clarity, precision performance, and overall build quality — easily one of the best scopes I’ve ever used.
The 15–60× magnification range is incredibly versatile. What truly sets this scope apart, though, is how bright and usable it remains across the entire zoom range. Even at close distances — and even at full 60× magnification — the image stays remarkably bright and clear. That’s unusual for high-magnification scopes, which often lose brightness and become finicky at closer ranges. This one does not. The UHD glass and advanced coatings really shine here, delivering excellent light transmission and contrast.
Adjustment is intuitive and precise. The MOA turrets have crisp, tactile clicks that make dialing elevation and windage effortless and repeatable. The side focus/parallax adjustment is smooth and precise, and the reticle is clean and easy to use without cluttering the sight picture — perfect for precise shot placement and fine holdovers.
The build quality inspires confidence. It feels solid and well-engineered, and most importantly, it tracks exactly where you dial it. When I’m behind this scope, I know the optic is not the limiting factor — it performs consistently and reliably.
If you’re looking for a scope that combines exceptional brightness, clarity, precision tracking, and premium build quality, the Ares ETR Gen2 absolutely delivers. It has earned a permanent place in my lineup and is one of the best scopes I’ve ever used. Highly recommended.
