Threw it in my four wheeler and got it beaten up pretty bad, but it has been working as a champ. The glass is really bright, grip is strong. easy to focus on my target. love it...

Great glass, compact and light. FOV is generous. Highly recommend this model as it loses nothing against 8x42 binos except it’s lighter :).

A fantastic bino for birdwatching. Very solid construction and a nice open bridge design, which make it easy to grip with one hand. The space between the barrels could (by the way) be a little bit larger for more space for the fingers. Very clear and sharp picture! Thou it's a bit blurry on the edges. I guess the more expensive Cronus-model with E2ES Field flattener lens system have sharp focus even on the edges. But for this price Ares deliver a very good picture. Very little chromatic aberration thanks to the ED glass. The FOV is statued to 405 feet/1000 yards, is good. In Europe it is confusing with feet and yards, but I guess it will be around 134 m/1000 m. The focus wheel is large and turns nice a smooth in warm summer weather, but gets a little harder to turn in low temperature during the Swedish winters. Close focus is 1.98 meters which is good for butterflies and insects. The lifetime warranty is very nice to have.

Overall I am very happy with my Ares 8x36 for that money it costs. The 36 mm objective lenses are an interesting choice for those who thinks the 32 is too small and 42 mm models are too big/heavy. It has ED glass in the objectives. ESP dialectric coating and phase coating on the prisms. Good quality BAK4 prisms. Fully multi coated outer lenses and waterproof.

A very good choice. I love the open bridge model and the nice blue-green colour on the rubber is attractive. One of the objective caps was destroyed when I picked the bino from the soft case recently, but I guess thats a small thing for such a fine piece of optics. Athlon Optics is really something to consider when you are going to buy your next bino if you think that Leica, Swarovski and Zeiss are too expensive.
